>Hungarian immigrants began arriving in Louisiana’s Florida Parishes in 1896, when Julius Bruskay, Adam Mocsary, and Theodore Zboray—drawn to labor opportunities at the Brackenridge Lumber Mill—settled near present-day Albany. By 1920 more than two hundred Hungarian families, many of whom had shifted from mill work to farming strawberries, called Árpádhon home. Their stories are preserved and celebrated at the Hungarian Settlement Museum in Livingston Parish.
