The egg-laying stocks themselves have been incredibly resilient. Despite having to kill millions of birds, since the standard practice is to kill all chickens in a flock if even ONE is infected, the fact that national totals have only dropped by less than 4% is astounding. And of course, having to wipe out entire flocks and repopulate them over the course of a year will add to costs. Put another way, the fact that there are eggs on the shelves at all is incredible.

As I understand it, to cut a whole lot short, America has been subject to a fuck ton of tarrifs and fees when our companies want to export to these places, and generally get stuck to only the American market as a consequence.
Trump wants to change that. Which, I guess I understand.

I don't really know enough of other nations to get a good vibe, but I know that Mexico and Canada specifically were supposed to be under an economic union with us, where we could trade without tarrifs, but that only ever really applied to the US, as Canada especially never had issue taxing American product.

We'll see how it goes, but on the whole I'm not opposed to the idea of telling the world the cookie jar is empty.
