Musket balls seems likely. Lead is definitely soft enough you could hammer it down like that.
A ball'd be easily smashable with some split firewood, and you could even give the marks using just about any other small bit of metal.
Might have to make some fake ones some time as a 'historic' option.

Well the festival is over. Didn't quite make what I hoped, but did at least cover the baseline expenses...
Sadly this one was fairly light on people.
In the end I sold only dice things, oddly. Guess people like dnd down here.
