'A HUNDRED OF Tarvitz’s loyalists remained. They were the only survivors of their glorious last stand, and he had gathered them in the remains of the Warsingers’ Temple – Sons of Horus, Emperor’s Children, and even a few lost-looking World Eaters. Tarvitz noticed that there were no Death Guard in their numbers, thinking that perhaps a few had survived Mortarion’s scouring of the trenches, but knowing that they might as well have been on the other side of Isstvan III.

This was the end. They all knew it, but none of them gave voice to that fact. He knew all their names now. Before, they had just been grime-streaked faces among the endless days and nights of battle, but now they were brothers, men he would die with in honor.

Flashes of explosions bloomed in the city’s north. Shooting stars punched through the dark clouds overhead, scorching holes through which the glimmering stars could be seen. The stars shone down on the Choral City in time to watch the city die.

‘Did we hurt them, captain? asked Solathen. ‘Did this mean anything?’

Tarvitz thought for a moment before replying.

‘Yes,’ he said, ‘we hurt them here. They’ll remember this.”

Beautiful.
'A CENTURY OF Tarvitz’s steadfast brethren lingered. They stood as the solitary remnants of their illustrious last bastion, gathered in the venerable ruins of the Warsingers’ Temple – scions of Horus, children of the Emperor, and even a few wandering World Eaters. Tarvitz discerned the absence of the Death Guard within their ranks, contemplating the possibility that a scant few might have evaded Mortarion’s relentless purging of the trenches, yet acknowledging they were as distant as the stars over Isstvan III. This was the final chapter. They were all cognizant, yet none dared utter the dreadful truth. In this fateful hour, he knew each name, once mere shadowy visages amidst the ceaseless tempest of conflict, now transformed into brothers, men with whom he would embrace death in honor. Illumination from thunderous explosions illuminated the northern expanse of the city. Celestial fires tore through the abyssal mists above, carving luminous portals through which the radiant stars beheld the demise of the Choral City. ‘Did we wound them, captain?’ inquired Solathen. ‘Did this bear significance?’ Tarvitz pondered ere responding. ‘Indeed,’ he declared, ‘we inflicted pain upon them here. They shall not forget this.'
'A WHOOPING CENTURY of Tarvitz’s dauntless pals huddled like a bunch of wobbly jellybeans! They stood as the last leftover gummy bears of their jolly old fortress, gathered in the woozy ruins of the Warsingers’ Magic Castle – scions of Horus, giggly kiddos of the Emperor, and even a few sneaky World Chompers! Tarvitz spotted the empty chairs where the Death Guard usually twirled about, daydreaming about whether a twinkling few had slid past Mortarion’s pesky housecleaning, yet realizing they were as far away as the wacky stars frolicking over Isstvan III. This was the grand finale! They all knew it, but not a single one dared to bubble the ghastly gossip. In this ticklish moment, he could name each one, once shadowy goofballs in the wild swirl of battle, now glittery brothers, chums with whom he would tango with destiny in style! Boom! Bang! The sidewalks lit up with flashing fireworks across the northern fluffle of the city. Sparkly fires danced through the cotton candy clouds above, poking bright holes through which the shining stars peeped down at the silly demise of the Choral City. ‘Did we tickle them, captain?’ squeaked Solathen. ‘Did this matter a bit?’ Tarvitz scratched his noggin before replying. ‘Oh, for sure,’ he boomed, ‘we tickled their funny bones here. They won’t forget this wacky shenanigan!'

Harry Potter is great for the memes and sense of world building magic. It has some surprisingly deep lore if you look in the right places.

40k on the other hand has all of that and more in my opinion. It's one of the few series to have ever made me cry. (The tears were manly!) The only other things I can really think of to do so with such impact would probably be Metal Gear Snake Eater (Boss...), Fist of the North Star, Berserk, Space Dandy (Pup; Laika broke my heart for a while), Samurai Champloo, and a few others I can't think of off the top of my head.

Technically all animals can 'speak' in that universe. It's only a number of people that can speak to animals back in their 'language', and the language heard/written by humans is more of interpretation. In reality there is no actual spoken sound from what I understand outside of what you might normally hear from an animal. It's not like the snake is going to hiss out some sort of pronunciation that a regular person is going to even be able to recognize as an attempt of intelligent communication.

I also think the animal's intelligence is somewhat boosted by the speaker.

So the only reason Mr.Potter could talk with the Snake is he just has some sort of connection to them.

Still kind of Odd.

If I remember correctly, it's because of his connection to Volemort. Voldemort was a Parseltongue. He could talk to snakes. Though even within the wizard world, animal-speakers are extremely rare.

I wish I could talk to snakes. They seem cool.
