# Themes & Site Appearance

* **Theme system modernization**

* Refactored all active selectable themes around shared structural and styling contracts while preserving each theme’s visual identity.
* Removed large amounts of obsolete and conflicting theme CSS.
* Normalized common UI geometry so themes no longer accidentally change the size or placement of controls, panels, headings, or forms.
* Retired the obsolete **Pone**, **Geocities**, and **Windows 98** themes.
* Saved preferences for retired themes fall back to an available theme instead of leaving the site with missing styling.

* **Page titles and mastheads**

* Standardized board, thread, and catalog title sizing while retaining each theme’s font, color, weight, shadow, and other identity.
* Homepage branding remains intentionally larger than normal board/page titles.
* Restored theme-specific title shadows and effects where normalization had suppressed them.

Ponychan has been rolled back to June 3rd due to the spamming of /void/.

This was initially put to a vote, and the reasoning for those votes was also requested:

1 person voted to clear/restore /void/
3 people voted to delete /void/:
--- 1 didn't realize it existed
--- 1 wanted it gone for structural reasons
--- 1 wanted it gone due to content
--- 1 additional vote to delete the board was invalidated

None of the people who actually used /void/, rare as that may be, actually voted.

The spam on /void/ was committed by a single user with access to an entire IP subnet, likely via proxy, with ~100 posts distributed across 11 IPs. (correction: It was a set of unblocked TOR relays serving as exits.) One of those IPs was by the same user who posted the invalidated vote, which was inadvertently deleted along with the /void/ spam. This deleted post was explicitly claimed by someone claiming to be Cat, confirming that the same user was the spammer.

An idea has been presented, and I'd like to hear what people here think before making any changes. I'm personally indifferent, so feel free to tell me either how stupid this idea is, or how much you like it, as the case may be.

The suggestion was to make a board similar to /townhall/ from ponyville.us, specifically for discussions of a serious nature.

We already have /void/ for political shitposts, and we're phasing politics out of /chat/, so this would be the place for political discussions or any other serious discussions. /disc/ or something equivalent.

There's no specific reason why this board would need to be anonymous-only, but #Anonymous could be enabled thread by thread just as it is on the site right now. (This should be a toggle option on all posts, and is one of the things I've got on my list and will be working on soonish, among many other bug fixes and usability updates.)

Since we already have /void/ for the shitposts, I think we can be a lot stricter with the moderation than they are over on ponyville, just for comparison. The sorts of jabs that are common over on /townhall/, especially from those who share the majority view with the staff there, would ideally not be allowed. As it is, this sort of thing is already allowed on /void/ and is perfectly suited for /void/, so there's just no reason to have it at all on a serious discussion board.

I'm not sure if people would want such a place here.

First, my apologies to anyone who's been wrongfully hit by an auto ban lately.

As you may be aware, we have a CP spamming troll who has been targeting this site for months. And with just 2 of us actively moderating the site, there's no feasible way to catch the posts in a timely manner without some form of automation. Currently, the site uses three separate custom-made systems to filter out, deny, and/or ban individuals based on the posting patterns of this worthless sack of shit.

Recently, a change was made to this system that also flagged a number of regular users. This specific issue has been fixed, but given the necessarily broad net needed to catch the CP spammer, it is likely that additional bans will be placed in error. The CP spammer is still here, still being a piece of shit, and so I will continue updating the system to deal with him. Mistakes are bound to happen in the future as a result.

I can't tell you how to avoid triggering it for obvious reasons, but if you do trigger it, please appeal the ban. If you are so inclined, and if you are able to send me whatever you posted that triggered the ban, that will also help me fix any problems in the future. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
